You're invited to SOAR!
The Orientation program helps new students become familiar with Eastern while learning strategies for ensuring their academic and social success. During orientation, students will:
- Meet other incoming students and are introduced to current student leaders
- Get to know the faculty and staff
- Acclimate to campus
- Become familiar with on-campus services and resources
- Prepare for academic advisement, registration and other aspects of course selection
- Learn about Eastern’s culture of respect, and the importance of civility, inclusion and minimizing risky behaviors
Additionally, the Orientation program will:
- Create a welcoming environment that builds a sense of community
- Encourage students to take responsibility for their own growth and development by getting involved on campus
New first-year students participate in a two-day program called SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising & Registration).
SOAR will allow you the opportunity to meet other new students, student leaders, faculty and staff, acclimate you to campus and finalize your spring class schedule. All first-year students are charged an orientation fee and it is reflected in your itemized tuition bill.
While accepted students may sign up for any available session, please note that some students are strongly encouraged to attend particular sessions:
- STEP/CAP: Must attend Session 1- Honors Scholars: Are encouraged to attend Session 2
- Nursing students: Are encouraged to attend Session 1 or Session 2
Please call (860) 465-0036 or contact Alyssa Duffy at duffyal@easternct.edu with any questions regarding your registration. We can't wait to welcome you to campus!
