You're invited to SOAR!
The Orientation program helps new students become familiar with Eastern while learning strategies for ensuring their academic and social success. During orientation, students will:
- Meet other incoming students and are introduced to current student leaders
- Get to know the faculty and staff
- Acclimate to campus
- Become familiar with on-campus services and resources
- Prepare for academic advisement, registration and other aspects of course selection
- Learn about Eastern’s culture of respect, and the importance of civility, inclusion and minimizing risky behaviors
Additionally, the Orientation program will:
- Create a welcoming environment that builds a sense of community
- Encourage students to take responsibility for their own growth and development by getting involved on campus
Please note that some cohorts of students should select specific SOAR Sessions:
- STEP/CAP students may only attend SOAR 1
- Honors students are strongly encouraged to attend SOAR 1
- Nursing students are strongly encouraged to attend SOAR 2 or SOAR 4
First-year students will participate in a two-day, overnight program called SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising & Registration). Students can select one of five sessions to attend.
SOAR will allow you the opportunity to meet other new students, student leaders, faculty and staff, acclimate you to campus and finalize your fall class schedule. All first-year students are charged an orientation fee and it is reflected in your itemized tuition bill.
Please call (860) 465-0198 or contact Amy Carlsen at carlsena@easternct.edu with any questions or you need to switch SOAR dates. We can't wait to welcome you to campus!
